Save our South Dragons - Keep the Fire Burning!
HOW YOU CAN HELP TO SAVE THE SOUTH DRAGONS
As I'm sure all of you passionate South Dragons fans are aware, our great club made the decision not to enter the new NBL because the co-owners and board were unhappy about taking part in what they saw as a semi-professional league. However we, like many other supporters, just want to have our club back, as for many of us the South Dragons were the last chance we were going to give basketball in Australia.
With your help, we will attempt to bring back OUR South Dragons and give the entire Victorian population a basketball team to support with a passion. We want a team which is innovative and a step above the rest, and a team which works with the associations, not against them.
So why can the Dragons be saved? We understand that many have given up as they see the South Dragons heading the same way as the clubs before them – into oblivion. However, this is not the time to be apathetic. Our club came too far to die without a fight, and we owe it to ourselves and the great game of basketball to keep the fire burning.
We do not intend to lead you on; at the moment we are just trying to garner as much support as we can before seeing where that takes us.
With your help, we will see our South Dragons back where they belong, playing in the NBL and adding to our 2008-2009 NBL championship. We will see our championship banner hanging from the rafters. We will return the club which now has history and was a leader in the NBL. So tell your friends, classmates, workmates, family and anyone else who attended South Dragons games or feels alienated by the Melbourne Tigers to join the Facebook group, join the site and get behind your team!
HOW CAN YOU SHOW YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP US SAVE OUR SOUTH DRAGONS?
You can help by following these few steps.
1. Join our FACEBOOK group.
2. Use the 'Invite Your Friends' link within the group and invite all your friends and family to support our cause.
3. FOLLOW US ON TWITTER.
4. Register with our website forum and express your thoughts within the discussions.
5. Most IMPORTANTLY, go to the ‘PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT’ page and fill out the form. We will then know if you would like to donate, and can keep you up-to-date with what is going on within the movement.
